FURTHER TO THE RECENT ISTANBUL VISIT TAKEN UNDER EXISTING PLANDEMIC CONDITIONS AMAZING DISCOVERIES HAVE BEEN MADE. SUFFICE TO STATE THAT THE HISTORICAL GOLDEN HORN PENINSULA WAS THE FOCUS ESPECIALLY THE TOPKAPI. MANY VITAL OBSERVATIONS CAN BE MADE HERE BUT THE LINE OF INQUIRY BEING DEVELOPED HERE IS ON THE URGENT NEED FOR A CONTEMPORARY GLOBAL ISLAMIC COAT OF ARMS.
THE BASIC AND FUNDAMENTAL PREMISE THAT IS BEING ARTICULATED HERE IS THAT IN OUR MODERN WORLD GLOBAL ISLAM LACKS AN AUTHENTIC DEFENDER OF THE FAITH. FOR INSTANCE THE WESTERN WORLD HAS NATO WHICH DEFINES AND DEFENDS IT'S INTERESTS. THE ISLAMIC WORLD'S SITUATION IS RATHER MORE COMPLEX AND MESSY AS WE HAVE IMPOSED UPON THE MUSLIM WORLD THE SAUDI REGIME'S IMPERIALIST BACKED USURPATION OF THIS ROLE WHICH IS ANOTHER STORY. WHAT WE HAVE IS A FALSE PHONEY LEADERSHIP WHICH HAS SERVED TO UNDERMINE GLOBAL ISLAMIC INTERESTS AND IT'S TIME IS UP.
IT IS VITALLY IMPORTANT TO STRESS THAT THE ANALYSIS OFFERED ON THIS FORUM IS TOTALLY DEVOID OF ANY PERSONAL, POLITICAL, THEOLOGICAL OR SECTARIAN BIAS CONCERNING ANY POLITICAL REGIME IN THE CONTEMPORARY ISLAMIC WORLD. IT NEEDS TO BE CLEAR THAT WE ARE WRITING FROM A PERSPECTIVE WHICH IS NOT BEHOLDEN TO ANY REGIME. WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT IS WHAT THE UMMAH AND ISLAMIC HISTORY NEEDS AND DEMANDS NOW IS THAT ELITIST AGENDAS AND THE STATUS QUO HAVE TO BE DISCARDED. A WARNING SHOT IS BEING FIRED HERE IN THAT IT IS TIME FOR CHANGE AND A MUTAQQI LEADERSHIP TO RISE AND MEET THE CHALLENGES OF
A DAJALLIC ERA.
THE AUTHENTIC AND TRUE DEFENDER OF GLOBAL ISLAM AND MUSLIMS THE UNITED STATES OF ISLAM ARMY NEEDS A CONTEMPORARY ISLAMIC COAT OF ARMS DEVISED. THOSE FOLLOWING THE GLOBAL VISION 2000 DIAGNOSIS WILL UNDERSTAND THAT OUR TIME WILL SEE THE IMMINENCE OF THE APPEARANCE AND ESTABLISHMENT OF THE RULE, POWER AND AUTHORITY OF IMAM MAHDI. BUT THIS ERA IS ALSO CLIMAXING WITH A NEW GLOBAL RESET IN WHICH THE DAJALLIC NWO IS BEING PERFECTED. SO THIS IS PART OF THE PREPARATION OF THIS NEW ERA.
THE PREVIOUS OTTOMAN COAT OF ARMS IS A STARTING POINT BUT IT HAS BEEN ABANDONED, IS OUT OF DATE AND ASSOCIATED WITH A NATION. URGENT WORK IS BEING CONDUCTED ON THIS AND THE INSPIRATION OF THE NEW ISLAMIC COAT OF ARMS IS IN THE TOPKAPI. MORE ON THIS WILL FOLLOW.

THERE IS A NEED TO UNDERSTAND THE ISLAMIC CONCEPT AND DOCTRINE OF JIHAD. THIS IS VITALLY IMPORTANT AS IT IS THE DOCTRINE AND PRACTICE OF WHICH WILL BE THE IDEOLOGICAL FOUNDATION STONE AND INSPIRATION FOR THE UNITED STATES OF ISLAM ARMY. ALSO JIHAD IN THE ISLAMIC FAITH IS THE SPIRITUAL DUTY AND RESPONSIBILITY OF ALL ABLE BODIED MALES. INDEED IT IS THE FORGOTTEN 6TH PILLAR OF ISLAM WHICH ALONE CAN TRANSFORM THE EXISTENTIAL MUSLIM CONDITION FROM HUMILIATION AND DEFEAT TO DIGNITY, HONOUR AND PRIDE IN ISLAMIC SOVEREIGNTY. THIS NEEDS TO BE TAUGHT, INSTILLED AND PRACTISED WHEREVER THERE IS AGGRESSION, ATTACKS, VICTIMISATION AND IMPERIALISM BY OPPRESSORS. IN OTHER WORDS JIHAD IS A COMPULSORY SACRED DUTY INCUMBENT ON ALL MUSLIMS IN THE CONTEMPORARY WORLD.
THE GLOBAL MUSLIM CHARITY AND HUMANITARIAN INDUSTRY WHILST NO DOUBT WELL INTENTIONED IS BANDAGE TREATMENT ADDRESSING SYMPTOMS OF OPPRESSION OFTEN AS OPPOSED TO CAUSES. A SIMPLE EXAMPLE IS THAT OF ROHINGYAS. IS THE IMPERATIVE ISLAMIC DUTY TO FEED PERSECUTED AND FORCIBLY EXILED MUSLIM REFUGEES FROM THEIR HOMELAND OR TO SEND AN ISLAMIC ARMY PUTTING THE FEAR OF ALLAH INTO THE HEARTS AND MINDS OF THE BUDDHIST TERRORISTS?
AS THERE IS NO CONCEPT OF INDISCRIMINATE WAR AS DEFINED AND PRACTISED BY THE WEST. IT IS IS NOT SURPRISING THAT THE ONLY CIVILISATION WHICH HAS FORMULATED AND PRACTISED WAR GLOBALLY AND INDISCRIMINATELY HAS BEEN WESTERN CIVILISATION INCLUSIVE OF DROPPING NUCLEAR BOMBS ON UNARMED CIVILIAN POPULATIONS. THIS ALONE DEMERITS WESTERN CIVILISATION AND IT'S LEADERS FROM BEING GLOBAL LEADERS AND CUSTODIANS OF THE PLANET. THE UNITED STATES OF ISLAM ARMY WILL BE FOUNDED AND MOTIVATED BY THE ISLAMIC LEGAL DOCTRINE AND PRACTICE OF JIHAD. THIS HAS BEEN DELIBERATELY DEMONISED BY THE GLOBAL MEDIA.
AT A TIME WHEN THE PHONEY GLOBAL WAR OF TERROR WHICH IS A CRUSADE AND IS A GLOBAL WAR ON ISLAM AND MUSLIMS PREVAILS REAL ISLAMIC RESISTANCE MOVEMENTS ARE DEEMED TO BE TERRORISTS. THE TIME TO BRING THE TRUE UNDERSTANDING OF JIHAD AS A MEANS FOR DEFENCE AND JUSTICE ON THE GLOBAL STAGE HAS ARRIVED.
ALSO IN ORDER TO CREATE UNDERSTANDING IT SHOULD BE CLEAR THAT ISIS IS A CREATION OF THE PHONEY GLOBAL WAR OF TERRORISM TO UNDERMINE AND DEFAME THE CONCEPT OF JIHAD. SO WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT HERE TRANSCENDS ANYTHING YOU HAVE HEARD AND SEEN ON THE DAJALLIC MEDIA. IF YOU ARE NOT AWARE OF THIS GO AWAY AND DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH AND THEN COME BACK TO LISTEN TO THOSE WHO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT. HOW MANY TIMES HAVE WE TOLD YOU TO SWITCH OFF FROM THE MSM AS THEY ARE ENGAGED IN FAKE NEWS AND BRAINWASHING WHERE WHITE IS BLACK AND BLACK IS WHITE.
POSTSCRIPT
THE COMING WEEK LOOKS SET TO SEE THE CONTINUING TRAGEDY OF PALESTINE UNDER THE ZIONIST RACIST IMPERIALIST OCCUPATION WHILST THE WORLD LOOKS ON.
THE ROLE OF TREASON AND TRAITORS IN THE ARAB WORLD HAS NOT BEEN DOCUMENTED FULLY IN THE CREATION AND CONTINUATION OF THIS TRAGEDY. IF WE LOOK AT THE AL JAZEERA ARTICLE BELOW IT ACCURATELY MAPS OUT THE PALESTINIAN TRAGEDY. BUT THIS TRAGEDY DID NOT MATERIALISE IN A POLITICAL OR MILITARY VACCUM. THE ROLE OF BETRAYAL AND TREACHERY BY ARAB LEADERS INCLUDING SOME CLAIMING DESCENT OF THE PROPHET MUHAMMAD IS SHOCKING. UNTIL THIS IS FACTORED IN THERE WILL BE NO JUSTICE AND NO PEACE IN THE REGION.
ALSO IF WE REMAIN ON THE AL JAZEERA ARTICLE WHERE IS THE CALL FOR RESISTANCE AND JIHAD AND INDEED WHERE IS THE ROADMAP AND MOBILISATION OF RESISTANCE? IT TRULY REVEALS THE ARAB MENTAL STATE OF DEFEATISM IN FACE OF THE ENEMY. IT IS CLEAR THAT UNTIL THERE IS A RADICAL ROOT AND BRANCH SWEEPING AWAY OF THE CURRENT LEADERSHIP THE AGONY AND PLIGHT OF PALESTINE WILL CONTINUE. THE ARAB LEADERSHIP HAS BEEN CO-OPTED IN THE ZIONIST RACIST IMPERIALIST PROJECT FOR OVER A CENTURY NOW. JUSTICE AND PEACE CAN ONLY BE MANIFESTED BY A MUTAQQI LEADERSHIP.
THE PROBLEM WITH MANY ARABS AND MUSLIMS IS THAT THEY HAVE FORGOTTEN WHAT MUTAQQI MEANS? THEY HAVE FORGOTTEN FEARLESSNESS AND TRUST IN ALLAH AND THINK THAT SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY IS OK. ALSO ISN'T IT AN AMAZING COINCIDENCE THAT THE SAUDI REGIME HAS CANCELLED THE HAJJ THIS YEAR UNDER THE PRETEXT OF THE PLANDEMIC. SO WE CAN BE FORGIVEN IN SAYING THAT THE HAJJ WHICH COULD BE AN UNIVERSAL PLATFORM FOR RESISTANCE AND JIHAD HAS BECOME SUBVERTED AND EMASCULATED. THE ENEMY HAS BEEN GIVEN A GREEN LIGHT FOR IT'S MAKE ISRAEL GREAT AGAIN- MIGA PLANS. IT IS NOW BECOMING CLEAR THAT THE GWOT IS DIRECTLY LINKED TO MIGA. LITTLE DO THEY REALISE THAT THEIR EVERY MOVE IS KNOWN AS ALLAH IS THE PROTECTOR OF THE MUMINEEN AND THE BEST OF ALL PLANNERS.
THE COMING EVENTS AROUND THE CORNER WILL SWEEP EVERYTHING IN IT'S PATH. BUT WHEN THE ENEMIES OF ISLAM LEAST EXPECT IT ISLAM WILL RISE LIKE IN THE BEGINNING AS A STRANGER AND WILL RETURN AS A STRANGER.

AS THE REGIONAL MILITARY POWER TURKEY NEEDS TO EVOLVE AND DEVELOP IT'S OWN INDIGENOUS DEFENCE TECHNOLOGIES AND INDUSTRY. IT IS BELIEVED THAT SINCE IT'S DEFENCE U TURN IN THE 1970S IT CAN SUPPLY UP TO 70% OF IT'S OWN REQUIREMENTS. THIS IS GREAT NEWS BUT IT NEEDS TO BE 100%. THE WEST NEEDS TO BE TOLD THAT IT'S MONOPOLY OVER HITECH IS OVER AND IT'S TERMS UNACCEPTABLE. THE BLACKMAIL BY WESTERN POWERS NEEDS TO BE NEUTRALISED.
THE BEST WAY TO DEAL WITH SANCTIONS BY THE USA AND NATO IS TO DEVELOP INDIGENOUS CAPABILITIES IN THEIR OWN MILITARY DEFENCE INDUSTRIES. PAKISTAN, TURKEY, IRAN AND MALAYSIA ARE LEADING THE WAY AND THIS IS GOOD NEWS. THIS NEEDS TO BE STRENGTHENED FURTHER BY COORDINATION WITH NATIONAL AND PAN ISLAMIC POLICIES AND STRATEGIES, INVESTMENT AS WELL AS WITH PUBLIC AND PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS WITH WORLD CLASS SUPPLY CHAINS DEVELOPED.
NATO MEMBER TURKEY FACED SANCTIONS FROM US DUE TO S-400 MISSILE SYSTEM
TURKEY’s DEFENCE INDUSTRY SET TO CONTINUE WORK DESPITE US SANCTIONS
https://www.trtworld.com/turkey/turkey-s...ions-42375
Presidency of Defence Industries head Ismail Demir says the sanctions imposed by US are not expected to “affect our relationships too much”. Turkey's defence industry announced recent US sanctions will not hinder its development plans. The head of the country's Defense Industries Presidency (SSB) Ismail Demir said on Tuesday: "The development of the domestic industry will continue, perhaps even faster. In a sense, this [sanctions] will be a flare and a warning."
The US Treasury Department on Monday imposed sanctions on Turkey over its purchase of the Russian S-400 missile defence system. "We expect this not to affect our relationships too much," Demir told reporters following budget deliberations in parliament.
The sanctions, under the Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA), avoided targeting Turkey's economy generally, focusing on its arms procurement and development body SSB, its chairman Demir, his deputy and two officials responsible for air defence systems. Underlining Turkey's NATO membership, Demir said Ankara has relations with the US in several fields. He added that both sides aim to continue these relations.
In April 2017, when its protracted efforts to buy an air defence system from the US proved fruitless, Turkey signed a contract with Russia to acquire the S-400 shield. US officials have voiced opposition to their deployment, claiming they would be incompatible with NATO systems and would expose next-generation F-35 jets to possible Russian subterfuge. Turkey, however, stressed that the S-400 would not be integrated into NATO systems, and posed no threat to the alliance or its armament.

THE EDITORIAL HERE WILL BE EXPANDED AS A MATTER OF URGENCY AND EMERGENCY AS WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT IS A RED ALERT OR IS IT GREEN ALERT. PAKISTAN IS NOT JUST FACING 5TH GENERATION WARFARE AS DISCLOSED BY IT'S PUBLICATION OF THE DOSSIER OF EVIDENCE OF INDIAN SPONSORSHIP OF TERRORISM IN PAKISTAN.
FOR THOSE WHO DON'T UNDERSTAND THE LANGUAGE OF THE ESCHATOLOGICAL THREAD NEED TO BE MADE OF THE DEEPER SINISTER PLOT. THERE IS EVIDENCE OF HIGH LEVEL MILITARY COLLUSION AND COOPERATION BY THE ZIONIST ISRAELI STATE WITH THE HINDUTVA MODI REGIME AS PER DAILY HAQEEQAT TV COVERAGE. WHAT IS HIGHLY DANGEROUS IS THAT WITH INDIA'S INTERNAL ECONOMIC PROBLEMS PILING UP WITH COVID 19, IT'S STANDOFF WITH CHINA ON IT'S BORDERS AND ALIENATION OF MINORITIES INCLUSIVE OF SIKHS, MUSLIMS, CHRISTIANS AND DALITS.
ALL THE MILITARY MANOEUVRES ON IT'S BORDERS AND MODI'S POSTURING INDICATE THAT THE RULING BJP ELITE HAVE DECIDED ON AN IMMINENT DIVERSIONARY WAR TO UNITE THE COUNTRY TOGETHER WITH A BLITZKRIEG INTENSIVE BORDER WAR WITH PAKISTAN. THIS STATEMENT IS MADE BASED ON MODI'S SPEECHES. NOT ONLY IS THIS RECKLESS BUT PAKISTAN NEEDS TO REALISE THAT THE COMING WAR IS ONE IN WHICH PAKISTAN IS FACING THE ZIONIST ISRAEL MILITARY IN IT'S OWN BACKYARD. THE SITUATION IS COMPLEX AS IT COULD TRIGGER A GREATER INVASION OF CONTESTED TERRITORIAL BORDER REGIONS BY CHINA INTO INDIA. SO INDIA, CHINA AND PAKISTAN WHO ARE 3 NUCLEAR POWERS COULD BE ENVELOPED IN A DEADLY TRIANGLE IN A TWO FRONT WAR WHICH WOULD BENEFIT THE ZIONISTS THE MOST.
ARMY HUDDLE EXPRESSES RESOLVE TO DEFEND AGAINST ANY MISADVENTURE AMID TENSION WITH INDIA
https://www.dawn.com/news/1592145/army-h...with-india
The military's top brass on Tuesday expressed the resolve to defend the country against any "misadventure" amid renewed tensions with India and ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC).
The resolve was conveyed at a Corps Commanders Conference chaired by Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa at the GHQ today. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Twitter said the forum reviewed the geo-strategic, regional and national security environment and discussed matters related to internal security, the situation along borders including the LoC
and Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir. The meeting also reviewed the progress in the Afghan peace process.
The military commanders "showed serious concern in the wake of irrefutable evidence of Indian state-sponsored terrorism and efforts to destabilise Pakistan", according to the ISPR. They termed Indian efforts to sabotage the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and its "involvement in financing and training of terrorist organisations for fomenting unrest in Pakistan, especially in AJK, GB and Balochistan" as an "affront to peace and security in the region".
Earlier this month, Pakistan unveiled evidence of India’s sponsorship of terrorism in Pakistan and shared specific details in this regard with the United Nations, the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. The dossier had also revealed India’s planning for sabotaging CPEC. Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, while presenting the dossier before the press, had said that New Delhi had sponsored raising of a
700-member militia for targeting the CPEC that worked under 10 RAW personnel.
Military spokesman Maj Gen Babar Iftikhar had then said that $60 million was spent by India on raising the anti-CPEC militia. While deliberating upon a recent surge in ceasefire violations by Indian troops,
the forum resolved to take "all measures necessary" to protect the population living along the LoC from Indian firing "deliberately targeting civil population". The "forum expressed strong will, resolve and determination to defend the motherland against any misadventure", the ISPR said.
The conference also discussed the Covid-19 situation and measures required to confront the pandemic's second wave. The army chief "specifically directed all commanders to ensure measures to support the national effort", according to the military's media wing. “Pakistan Army with support of state institutions and the nation is fully prepared to thwart all internal and external challenges. It is our duty to transform these challenges into opportunities for the stability and prosperity of the people of Pakistan,” Gen Bajwa was quoted as saying.
ARMY PUT ON HIGH ALERT AMID THREAT OF INDIAN STRIKE
https://www.dawn.com/news/1594910/army-p...ian-strike
ISLAMABAD: Amidst a possible threat of another attempt by India to conduct a surgical strike inside Pakistan’s territory, Pakistan Army has been put on high alert, informed sources told Dawn on Wednesday.
They said that after facing humiliating defeat in Ladakh and Doklam, India was preparing to launch another attack on the Line of Control (LoC) and across the Working Boundary at Pulwama, posing a threat to the regional peace and stability.
Meanwhile, Indian forces initiated ceasefire violations later in the day, martyring two Pakistan Army soldiers and injuring a civilian woman in different areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
The Inter Services Public Relations in a tweet identified the soldiers as Lance Naik Tariq, 38, and Sepoy Zaroof, 31. Pakistani forces responded befittingly to the ceasefire violations, added the ISPR.
In Taai village, Nasim Fatima was injured, a police official told Dawn. An official said a “false flag operation” was being planned by India to divert the world’s attention from several of its internal issues, including the ongoing farmers’ protest, its treatment of minorities, atrocities committed by Indian forces in occupied Kashmir and criticism of its policies by international institutions and media.
“India may at any time repeat a Pulwama-like drama to divert attention from the internal problems and was planning an action along the LoC and Working Boundary,” he said.
In 2016, India had claimed to have carried out a surgical strike on the LoC, a claim rubbished
by Pakistan. Similarly, on Feb 26 last year, India had tried to launch a similar operation against Pakistan but failed and two of its planes had been shot down by Pakistan Air Force. Indian pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan was arrested and later released.
The sources said India had committed 9,215 ceasefire violations between 2014 and 2019, involving 1,403 casualties. India has so far this year committed 2,830 ceasefire violations, with the number of civil casualties totaling 271.
The decision to put the army on high alert comes days after the Indian government approved the creation of a new post of deputy chief of strategy at the army headquarters as per a plan envisaged during the Doklam crisis with China in 2017, besides creating the position of director general information warfare who will also be dealing with media affairs.
‘Is India becoming a fascist state?’
In a related development, speakers at a global virtual seminar on Wednesday discussed the question, “Is India becoming a fascist state?” in response to the rising authoritarian tendencies of the Modi government and human rights violations in the country.
“The erosion of civil liberties, the aggression of police and the increasing politicisation of the judiciary mean that people are now seriously asking, ‘Is India slipping towards fascism? As a friend of India, Australia and Australian politicians should support those voices from India and the diaspora who commit to our shared values of democracy, liberty and rule of law,” NSW MP David Shoebridge said in his opening statement on the significance of the event.
Greens Foreign Affairs spokesman and Federal Senator Janet Rice said that human rights were fundamental and must be protected in all countries and for all people.
“Sadly in India, as in many countries around the world, people’s human rights are frequently not respected. We are particularly concerned at the impacts on religious minorities, political opposition groups, indigenous peoples and other vulnerable communities,” he added.
He said the forum was an important opportunity to hear from human rights advocates and a range of voices from around the world.
Australia’s former senator Lee Rhiannon said there has been an alarming decline in democratic and secular standards in India. “I am often asked ‘Is the Modi government promoting a fascist vision for India?’ I understand why people ask this question,” she wondered.
Ms Rhiannon said massive detention centres have been constructed in India for the millions deemed to be non-citizens under new laws. “Minorities are being killed. In occupied Kashmir,
in addition to the unilateral abrogation of Article 370 of the Indian constitution, the entire population of the region has been deprived of their right to freedom of expression and opinion through protracted communication restrictions, in place for the past year. These actions are compounded by a censored media, continuing detention of political leaders and a compromised judicial system. This forum is timely. The global community needs to be informed,” she added.
Shaffaq Mohammed, a British politician of Kashmiri heritage who served as a Liberal Democrat Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the Yorkshire & Humber region from 2019 to 2020, compared the fascism in Europe that led to the killing of around six million Jews and the ideology of Hindutva targeting minorities in India, especially Muslims.
He talked about the brutal lockdown now for more than a year imposed in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir following the revocation in August 2019 of Articles 370 and 35A that gave the region special status and autonomy.
In January this year, Shaffaq Mohammed was the lead proposer of a resolution against the Indian Citizen Amendment Act that gained the support of the main five political groups that made up the 750-seat European Parliament.
US Congresswoman-elect Marie Newman, who won election in Illinois’s 3rd congressional district to the United States House of Representatives as the Democratic nominee, talked
about the change in the US and assured her full support to rights groups calling for accountability of the Indian government with respect to human rights in the country. Suchitra Vijayan, the founder and Executive Director of The Polis Project who writes about war, conflict, foreign policy, politics, literature and photography, listed the increasing fascist policies of the Modi government and its total control on the judiciary, law enforcement and mass media in India in order to suppress the voices of dissent in the country.
Raju Rajagopal, co-founder of Hindus for Human Rights, talked about the cooperation of civil society activists from Indian diaspora to coordinate their efforts on a global level fighting against Hindutva ideology and creating awareness of human rights abuses in India by the Modi government amongst the international community.
Professor Anjali Arondekar, a professor of Feminist Studies and director of Centre for South Asian Studies, University of California, Santa Cruz, talked about the caste-based politics in India and discrimination, oppression and marginalisation of low caste Indians and other minorities, including Muslims, by the incumbent BJP government.
The round table was organised by a broad international coalition comprising Australia-based The Humanism Project, Indian American Muslim Council, Hindus for Human Rights, US, and Amnesty International, Australia.
INDIA ESCALATED ANTI-PAKISTAN CAMPAIGN AFTER ISLAMABAD's UNVEILING OF DOSSIER:FO
https://www.dawn.com/news/1592133/india-...islamabads-unveiling-of-dossier-fo
The Foreign Office (FO) on Tuesday said the Indian government had escalated its anti-Pakistan campaign — marked by false narratives, concocted evidence and orchestration of false flag operations — after Islamabad made public a dossier containing "irrefutable proof" of Indian sponsorship of terrorism in the country.
The statement was issued in response to media queries regarding the reported briefing to a group of foreign envoys at the Indian Ministry of External Affairs on the so-called attempted terrorist attack in Nagrota district in occupied Kashmir, FO spokesman Zahid Hafeez Chaudri said. A day earlier, India's Foreign Secretary Harsh Shringla had briefed a select group of foreign envoys about Pakistan's alleged role in the incident that occurred on November 19, Times of India reported. "The purported briefing by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs is yet another attempt to mischievously implicate Pakistan in some alleged planned attack occupied Kashmir," the FO spokesman said.
"The completely baseless and unsubstantiated Indian allegations are nothing but a reflection of desperate efforts on India’s part to salvage its false terrorism narrative against Pakistan, and to divert international attention from its state terrorism in the occupied valley and state-sponsorship of terrorism against Pakistan. "Pakistan has been consistently sensitising the international community regarding the possibility of India undertaking a false flag operation with the intention to implicate Pakistan and jeopardising regional peace and security. We forewarn the world community once again."
The spokesman added that Pakistan will continue exposing India and will not let the world community be misled by Indian propaganda. "The world community, including the United Nations counter-terrorism mechanisms, must act on the dossier presented by Pakistan with incontrovertible evidence of Indian state sponsorship of terrorism," he said.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday had claimed that a terrorist plot was “thwarted” after four “terrorists” belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) were “neutralised” by Indian security forces.
A day later, the FO had rejected as “unsubstantiated” Delhi’s allegations linking Pakistan to the purported botched terrorist attack in occupied Kashmir. The Indian Chargé d’Affaires was summoned to the FO to reject the allegations that were initially levelled by the Indian premier and repeated by the Ministry of External Affairs when the Pakistani envoy in Delhi was called for registering protest over the so-called planned attack. The FO said Indian allegations were meant to “mischievously implicate” Pakistan in what is being claimed as a “foiled attack” in Nagrota in occupied Kashmir.
China had also rushed to shield Pakistan from Modi’s allegations by recalling “positive contributions” made by Islamabad against global terrorism. “China appreciates the positive contribution by Pakistan to the international counter-terrorism cause, firmly supports Pakistan in cracking down terrorist forces. Attempts that aim to sabotage [China-Pakistan Economic Corridor] are doomed to fail,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lijian Zhao had said.
Dossier on Indian terrorism in Pakistan
Earlier this month, Pakistan made public a dossier containing "irrefutable proof" of the Indian sponsorship of terrorism in Pakistan and called on the world to stop India’s rogue actions for saving the region’s peace and security. Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, accompanied by military spokesman Maj Gen Babar Iftikhar, while sharing salient features of the dossier with the media at a presser at the Foreign Office, emphasised that the world could not afford to ignore India’s “rogue behaviour” and said Pakistan reserved the right to defend itself in every possible way.
Pakistan has accused its arch-rival neighbour of aiding and abetting terrorism for destabilising the region in the past as well, but this time the allegations are backed by specific evidence of financing, training, harbouring, and weapons supply in the shape of copies of correspondence, bank transactions and communication intercepts.
“The [specific] evidence presented by Pakistan provides a concrete proof of Indian financial and material sponsorship of multiple terrorist organisations, including UN-designated terrorist organisations Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, Balochistan Liberation Army and Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan,” Qureshi explained.
The foreign minister earlier told the presser that the recent spike in terrorist attacks, especially the incidents in Quetta and Peshawar, were the manifestation of India’s ‘grand design’. He said India was doing so to destabilise Pakistan, disrupt its journey towards economic revival, cause political upheaval, and sabotage CPEC.
These actions, the minister said, were being directed by a special cell that works directly under Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the cell had so far distributed Rs22 billion among the terrorist groups. Later, Prime Minister Imran Khan had expressed the hope that the world after looking at the “irrefutable evidence” given by Pakistan would not be able to remain “indifferent or silent” and would “force India to end its terrorism and bring to justice those responsible for killing thousands of innocent people in Pakistan”. “Our resilient and courageous security agencies and forces will continue to give their all to protect our people,” he underscored.
ARMY CHIEF STRESSES IMPORTANCE OF PROTECTING COUNTRY'S INTERESTS AGAINST 5TH GENERATION WARFARE
https://www.dawn.com/news/1578769/army-c...on-warfare
Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday stressed the importance of protecting the country from "fifth generation warfare and hybrid application by anti-Pakistan elements against Pakistan’s vital interests", the army's media wing tweeted. The army chief was chairing the Corps Commanders Conference, where participants were briefed about the progress of Operation Radd-ul-Fasad, Covid-19, locusts control measures and the regional situation among other matters.
"COAS stressed upon the need to enhance combat readiness levels in the wake of evolving strategic and regional milieu. Fifth generation warfare and hybrid application by anti-Pakistan elements against Pakistan’s vital interests must be safeguarded in synchronisation with government policies, COAS reiterated," a tweet by the director-general of the Inter-Services Public Relations Maj Gen Babar Iftikhar read.
Furthermore, the forum also discussed the increasing number of ceasefire violations that targeted civilians across the Line of Control as well as the "blatant human rights violations in
Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir [both of which] were noted as major cause of concern for regional peace and stability". The impact of Afghanistan's security situation on that of Pakistan also came under discussion. Gen Bajwa also lauded the armed forces' "operational readiness and sustained efforts" for flood relief as well as security arrangements on Ashura. "Forum expressed satisfaction over positive developments/indicators in all domains and improved security situation across the country," said a tweet by DG ISPR. The army chief also "appreciated high state of morale in the army and directed commanders to ensure welfare of troops during prolonged/extensive operational and internal security deployments". 11th Indian quadcopter shot down near LoC
Also on Wednesday, Pakistan Army troops shot down an Indian spying quadcopter in Chakothi sector along the Line of Control, the ISPR said in a tweet. The quadcopter had intruded 500 metres into Pakistan’s side of the LoC, the ISPR said, adding that this was the 11th Indian quadcopter shot down by Pakistani troops this year.
PAKISTAN BEING SUBJECTED TO 5TH GENERATION WARFARE IN MASSIVE WAY BUT WE ARE AWARE OF THREATS; DG ISPR
https://www.dawn.com/news/1593804/pakist...ts-dg-ispr
Maj Gen Babar Iftikhar, the chief of the military's media wing, has said that India is engaged in a massive campaign of 'fifth-generation warfare' to obstruct Pakistan’s road to prosperity mainly through targeting the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Pakistan’s international image.
Appearing in a wide-ranging interview on Global Village Space published on Thursday,
he termed misinformation campaigns against Pakistan on social media as a "major challenge", but said the country was countering these through transparency and putting out credible information.
“Unfortunately, it’s a major onslaught, it’s a major part of the fifth-generation warfare. Pakistan is being subjected to […] hybrid applications in a massive way and we are aware
of that,” the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) director general said. When prompted to cite a specific incident of such an attempt, he mentioned the recent explosion in a Karachi building which was framed as a "civil war" in India as an example of irresponsible reporting. “In doing so, the Indian media has lost its credibility to quite an extent and the whole world is recognising that,” he said.
He said in his understanding, fifth-generation warfare was the Indian state using all elements of its national power to systemically focus on and attempt to destabilise certain domains in Pakistan. He listed these domains as Pakistan’s economy, information system, army and international image, for which he cited the example of Indian lobbying in the Financial Action Task Force meetings to discredit Pakistan.
When asked about how such attempts were countered, Maj Gen Iftikhar stated: “Best way to handle this is transparency, […] not leaving information voids and […] passing on credible information.”
He also brought up Pakistan’s practical action in the international arena to bring attention to Indian designs by submitting a dossier on Indian state-sponsored terrorism in Pakistan to the United Nations Secretary General. According to Maj Gen Iftikhar, the dossier and its proofs had been taken seriously at the international level and objectively analysed which had vindicated Pakistan’s stance.
The ISPR chief also highlighted that Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa's military diplomacy and forays to reach out to the armies of the region and beyond had yielded considerable advantages for Pakistan. Note was made of success in this regard with China, Russia and the Gulf states. “The outreach whether for training or other exchanges or defence equipment has been very positive,” Maj Gen Iftikhar said.
LoC violations
The increase in ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) in the DG ISPR's view was also a concerted strategy as part of fifth-generation warfare. He said exchanges of fire had continued since 2014 but “these two years, 2019 and 2020, have seen the maximum number of ceasefire violations and I believe [the] maximum number of casualties.”
He linked this increase in violations with the revocation of Article 370, through which Indian-occupied Kashmir's special status was withdrawn and which received substantial negative press and international condemnation. He said Pakistan consistently supported this issue at the international fora.
He said the ceasefire violations in his view were attempts to paint Pakistan as supporting terrorism and infiltration in IOK. India wants to simultaneously discredit the indigenous struggle for freedom in IOK and malign Pakistan’s international image through such measures, he added.
However, Maj Gen Iftikhar said Pakistan had rebuffed such attempts and “we’ve been taking media [and] diplomats to the Line of Control and they’ve seen for themselves there is no way any kind of infiltration can take place.”
Border fencing efforts
The ISPR chief also addressed Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to fence its western borders.
He said they had been overall very successful and “83 per cent of the Afghan border” and on the Iranian side “30pc has been fenced and will be complete by December 2021”.
He said Pakistan was already seeing the dividends of these efforts with a reduction in smuggling and illegal cross border activity. A decrease in terrorist activity has also been witnessed, he said, adding: “I won’t go into the percentage […] but the number of incidents and casualties has decreased massively.”
He further mentioned that a new border management division had been raised which will be centrally administrating and managing all entry points in Pakistan, from land, sea and air. “Border management is key to securing Pakistan,” he said while talking about the importance of this endeavour.
Reviewing the overall handling of the ongoing Covid-19 crisis in Pakistan and the army’s role in it, Maj Gen Iftikhar praised the ability and services of both civil and military institutions. He highlighted how the army had rendered many services during the ongoing efforts like public awareness media campaigns and troop deployment across the country to implement lockdowns. He ended the interview by underlining and praising the role of media outlets in educating the public.

THIS IS A START TO URGENTLY REVIEW THE TREATY OF LAUSANNE WHICH WAS SIGNED ON 24 JULY 1923 AND BECAME EFFECTIVE ON AUGUST 6 1924. THE CENTENARY IS IN SIGHT AND THE TURKISH CONCEPT OF MAVI VATAN OR BLUE HOMELAND NEEDS TO BE SEEN IN THIS CONTEXT.
IT ENDED THE CONFLICT AND DEFINED THE BORDERS OF THE MODERN TURKISH REPUBLIC. IN THE TREATY TURKEY GAVE UP ALL CLAIMS TO THE REMAINDER OF THE OTTOMAN EMPIRE AND IN RETURN THE ALLIES RECOGNIZED TURKISH SOVEREIGNTY WITHIN ITS NEW BORDERS.
IS TURKEY PLANNING THE INVASION OF GREEK TERRITORY IN THE AEGEAN SEA ?
WHAT TURKEY WANTS

Lorenzo Vita
The dangerous waters of the eastern Mediterranean have once again brought Turkey under the spotlight. The succession of events in the quadrant stretching from the Aegean to the seas around Cyprus is still looking murky.
The Current Situation in the Eastern Mediterranean
Ankara has sent the survey ship Oruç Reis with an escort of military craft to explore the seabed. Greece reacted with a series of military maneuvers and opened an anti-Turkish blockade in Mare Nostrum with France as one of its leading partners. The challenge is leading to an increasing deployment of air-sea forces with the risk that the slightest spark could trigger a conflict whose boundaries and effects are hard to predict.
But what matters is to understand why this escalation has come about. Why are tensions rocking the Aegean and the Levant, and why are Greek, Turkish, French, Italian and American ships and UAE fighters scrambling to active duty stations?
The Blue Homeland Doctrine
To understand this, we have to start with Turkey, a country that has increased its outward thrust in recent years. It has decided to turn its gaze beyond its borders in all directions and enlarge its sphere of influence. First it adopted and exploited the “strategic depth” conceived by Ahmet Davutoglu. Now, however, with its thrust moving from the land towards the sea, this return of Turkey to the international theater has a name that echoes with increasing force:
Mavi Vatan, or the Blue Homeland doctrine. We discussed it with Cem Gürdeniz, admiral of the Turkish Navy, the first to coin this term and promote it. Today Mavi Vatan is the symbol of Ankara’s Mediterranean strategy.
“Mavi Vatan rests on three pillars. The first pillar is the symbol of Turkey’s growing maritime claims in the Twenty First Century. Turkey had a maritime vision that has sadly been curtailed over the centuries. Ataturk sought to revitalize it, but after him no one really focused on developing a capable navy. We depend on the sea for resources, trade and the state’s very existence. The Turkish government and people have returned to this mindset in recent years, realising how much they need the sea. That is why this doctrine is a symbol.” But this means moving from symbolism to practice, and from this point of view, the other two pillars are fundamental to understanding what Turkey wants. Gurdeniz continues his explanation.
“The second pillar of Mavi Vatan is a definition,” explains Gurdeniz. “It defines areas of maritime jurisdiction, meaning the territorial waters, the continental shelf and the EEZ. In this context Mavi Vatan is a defensive approach to protecting our areas of maritime jurisdiction, in particular against the Seville Map prepared for the EU and imposed on Turkey.”
This definition is strongly correlated to the third pillar, the doctrine. “To protect, safeguard and develop maritime rights and national interests, Mavi Vatan develops secondary doctrines such as the deployment of the navy, the development of our defense industry, the use of seismic research vessels and drilling rigs, the development of support bases for the national and foreign fleet and legal instruments and arguments for signing boundary agreements with other seaboard states.” The reference is to the memorandum with Libya of 27 November 2019. This is a point the admiral often returns to: the good neighbor policy. “The doctrine seeks to establish good relations with our neighbors based on an equal share of the rule of the sea. Mavi Vatan does not necessarily lead to conflicts. Rather it fosters good relations with other powers such as Egypt, Israel, Malta and Italy.”
What About the Current Tensions with Greece?
One question naturally arises at this point, especially concerning what is happening in the eastern Mediterranean with Athens.
IO: Admiral Gurdeniz, how do you think a doctrine like Mavi Vatan can coexist with the interests of other countries and international law?
“Today’s problem with the European Union and the United States is a problem of perception. For centuries Turkey has been seen as a land-based power. The main reason for what is happening now is that with Mavi Vatan this perception has changed. We have turned to the sea without the least intention of withdrawing. The main problem at present is the Seville Map. If we are deprived of hundreds of thousands of square kilometres of sovereign waters by this map, with boundaries that strangle Turkey and debar it from the sea, then it becomes a problem. The Atlantic system enforces a system compelling Turkey to remain in Anatolia. This map prevents Turkey from reaching the oceans. It is intentionally designed to take Turkey out of its role in the Mediterranean and Mediterranean geopolitics. It is impossible for Turkey to accept the second version of the Treaty of Sèvres, especially now that energy resources are being discovered and the boundaries fail to authorize it.”
IO: These words, these concepts, are very reminiscent of some speeches by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
“I am a Kemalist. Mavi Vatan is a policy that protects the interests of the state and is absolutely foreign to neo-Ottoman views, expansionism and Islamism. Mavi Vatan is a defensive doctrine against the demands and impositions of the EU and the United States based on the Seville Map. It defends international rules, the jurisprudence of the International Court of Justice and the Permanent Court of Arbitration with previous decisions on maritime boundary conflicts. Mavi Vatan is beyond politics, it has no direct connection with any political party. However, it does provide information about state policy,” Gurdenez stated.
We are beyond politics, therefore also beyond the State and beyond Turkey
“Turkey is not alone in the Mediterranean” explains Gurdeniz. “Turkey also represents the Turkish world: it represents the peoples from Kazakhstan to the Balkans who have no coasts. The Turkish Republic is the only country that can enable this world to be a maritime power and give these peoples an outlet to the sea and the rest of the world. We have to think about all these peoples and states. There is an area of interest, cooperation and coordination that stretches as far as the Persian Gulf, Aden and the whole of the Mediterranean to the oceans. Italy has aircraft carriers, for example, and they’re a crucial weapon because it means the navy protects its national economic and political interests. Italy coined the concept of an enlarged Mediterranean, expressing the urge to project itself beyond its coasts. Turkey has to extend its area of operation and in case of an emergency it needs to have operational bases abroad to operate from, such as Libya, the Republic of Northern Cyprus, Djibouti, Albania and Qatar.”
‘The Turkish Navy Has to Expand’
This is a concept that Admiral Gurdeniz stressed repeatedly.
“The Turkish Navy has to expand. This is a natural reaction to its growth as a regional power and as it makes the breakthrough. Turkey is growing as a member of the G20, with 83 million inhabitants and a major defence industry. A fundamental step that cannot be overlooked as neighbors like Greece and Cyprus seek to deprive Turkey of sovereignty and maritime rights. The world is changing, there are new poles and we are moving towards multi-polarity. China and Russia are changing the unipolar world based on the Pax Americana. Italy itself has signed an agreement with China for the Silk Road.”
IO: Speaking of Italy, Admiral how do you see relations between Italy and Turkey now or how they should be in future? Some recent episodes have revealed fault lines between the two countries but also strong synergies in certain areas
“In the case of Italy, it is possible for Turkey and Italy to be either partners or rivals. Geopolitically, Italy and Turkey could be rivals. They are two strongly maritime countries that have or want to have control of the Mediterranean or part of it. Italy has a double front, on the western and eastern Mediterranean, and occupies a very critical and special position, which is also its strength. France and Germany are pushing for an Italy positioned in a certain way, but the problem starts with the Atlantic system. Italy has a strong Atlantic culture but at the same time it also has a Eurasian thrust and could have interests other than those of the system headed by Washington. This unites it with Germany. Turkey had within it one school linked to Gülen, instigated by NATO and the Atlantic system. But part of the country is opposed to it, because the US military presence and US strategic policy are seen as problems. Turkey is as close to Eurasian politics as Italy appears to be, which is the only G8 power on the Silk Road and we have common interests in Libya and North Africa. This is something that France rejects and it is pressing for its own independent force in the Mediterranean, as has happened and is happening in Lebanon.”
IO: Participation in the “Eunomia” exercises with Greece indicates that Italy seems closer to the Western bloc. Although there was a Passex exercise with the Turkish Navy as well.
“As for the exercises, Turkey conducts them continually and it is a policy of balance. We shouldn’t be surprised by the exercises. We can conduct them with anyone and everyone performs them with different powers.”
IO: As for Greece, Eunomia and what is happening between Athens and Ankara, what do you, Cem Gurdeniz, think of it, as the creator of Mavi Vatan and the strategist of Turkish expansion at sea?
“The rift between Greece and Turkey is neither political nor legal: it is geopolitical. Greece acts as the ‘prosecutor’ of the Euro-Atlantic system, which Turkey sees as failing to respect the international system and the law of the sea. The Seville Map gives the whole continental shelf of the Aegean to Greece. Kastellorizo (the island at the centre of the current escalation ed.) takes 40,000 square kilometres out of the Turkish continental shelf despite having just 20 kilometres of coastline. The Anatolian peninsula has 1600 kilometres. So it is contrary to the reality posited by international law. It is a map dictated, handed down from above, and Turkey will never accept it.”
IO: Do you think it could be the prelude to war?
“I think that there will be no armed clashes because if Greece, with or without its EU and NATO partners, attacks Turkey, it would be the end of the Atlantic Alliance. And without Turkey there would be an acceleration of the new world order, with Ankara moving east. I think the world should persuade the Greeks to give up their unacceptable, unrealistic and irrational claims both in the Aegean and the rest of the Mediterranean. I repeat: if Greece threatens or carries out acts of war, there would be repercussions in the world order, not just the region.”
IO: Speaking of NATO in crisis, this escalation in the Aegean and the French dynamism bring to mind the words of Emmanuel Macron, who described the Alliance as in a state of “brain death”. This sounds true enough. What will happen between NATO and Turkey?
“NATO has exploited Turkey for the past 70 years. At that time we were the main bulwark against the Soviet push southward. Now the Cold War is over and Turkey has reconfigured a new geopolitics that does not fit into the Euro-Atlantic vision. And here we have the clash. They want Turkish troops to withdraw from Cyprus, they want Turkey to accept the Seville Map and to impose a Kurdish puppet state in the south with access to the sea. In the last phase they used the Gülenists to break Turkey’s will to pursue a new geopolitical vision. The coup of 15 July 2016 was the final blow, but they failed. The Gülenists were persecuted in Turkey but some escaped to America or Western countries where they found asylum and protection.”
IO: Yours is an important argument. But can Turkey, the new Turkey with its policy of Mavi Vatan, coexist with NATO? Can there still be a Turkish power within the Atlantic Alliance?
“NATO is in crisis at the moment due to what is happening in the Eastern Mediterranean and I don’t believe that the Turkish strategy can coexist for very long with the Atlantic Pact. The Mediterranean is passing from a pax americana to a pax sinica, created and installed by China. It is a very long process but it is clear that the pax americana, which came after the pax britannica, will not accept the inevitable change without a struggle. I hope this change comes about without bloodshed. But it is clear that these two pax systems are changing the Mediterranean or could change it in future.” Gurdeniz, on this point, seems to have many certainties.
“Ties between NATO and Turkey will no longer be as close as before because the EU and NATO are diverging from Turkish national interests,” he explained. “The Euro-Atlantic system’s attitude to Turkey will have to change. New alliances will have to be forged. We must make new agreements and seek for new allies, for example with Russia, which is under siege, and with which we are making agreements in Syria and Libya. We could also recognize its sovereignty over Abkhazia if Moscow recognizes Northern Cyprus. There is a balance between our respective interests. If the EU and the US want to deprive Turkey of the resources it needs for its future, there will be no scope for a compromise that would force us to lose everything. The Americans and some NATO nations are allying themselves with the PKK and the YPG for an independent Kurdistan that is against Turkish interests. How can the land-based allies of a NATO member state seek to destabilize and fragment another ally?”
‘MAVI VATAN’ AND TURKISH GREEK TIES
https://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/opinio...ies-141734
The much-publicized military hyper-drill with the meaningful code-name “Blue Homeland”
(“Mavi Vatan” in Turkish) has come to an end. This massive naval drill -the biggest in the Turkish republic’s history- set off on Feb. 27 and came to an end yesterday. According to multiple official statements it was a drill which extended to three seas (the Black Sea, the Aegean and the Mediterranean) with the participation of over hundred vessels of the Turkish navy accompanied by the Turkish air force, and its aim was to test the warfighting capabilities of the Turkish naval forces. At this late stage, I think it is fair to say that there is no reason to believe at any “unfortunate incident” would occur between the Turkish navy or air force and their Greek or Greek Cypriot counterparts.
Yet, during these past days, there were many both in Greece and Cyprus who were nurturing negative expectations from this increased naval activity in the two of the three seas: The Aegean and the Mediterranean. They had already marked on their maps the likely flash points, they had already predicted the areas of breaches and violations of the EEZ of Cyprus Republic or of the territorial waters of several Greek islands in the Aegean. Pages and pages of analyses on eminent analysts and academics both in Greece and Cyprus were predicting a “foul play” on behalf of Turkey at some stage of the drill. In the case of Greece most of these wise people ended their analyses at the monotonous suggestion that “our country has to increase its military capabilities, get newer and more advanced weapons to appease the opponent”.
Needless to add that at the head of this overzealous coverage of the “Mavi Vatan” sequence, stood the TV channels both in Greek and Turkish who were quick to call the drill a “war rehearsal” and engaged in an almost daily digital war game with videos from the actual operations but with narrated commentary to fit each other’s perceptions. For the Greeks it was the drill was an act of a near aggression, for the Turks it was a projection of power,
much needed against the “bad press” about Turkey especially after the attempted coup of July 2016.
As we are at the last leg of “Mavi Vatan” drill, and as none of the bad scenarios were proven true, let me go back to the statement that the former Chief of the Greek General Staff and present Minister of Defense Evangelos Apostolakis made on the eve of the drill. Questioned
by Kathimerini newspaper whether “Mavi Vatan would reflect the Turkish ambitions and assertations,” he replied: “Allow me not to enter the logic of the media dimension of this drill, and to evaluate the situation on its real base. The drill is [was] a typical training activity of the Turkish armed forces. Be sure that the monitoring system of the Greek armed forces and their readiness provide full capability of following all such activities.”
And two days ago, at the closing hours of the naval activities, Apostolakis’s Turkish counterpart, Hulusi Akar, whose presence was prominent during the Blue Homeland operations, chose to send a message of cooperation and de-escalation of tension with Greece: “In the context of good neighborly relations and international law we are trying to improve the confidence building measures and bring the level of our relations to a better level…” he said.
Of course, everybody is aware of the problems between the two sides and with Cyprus that need to be solved especially on the issue of energy explorations.
But, specifically, about the current state of affairs between Turkey and Greece, the “Mavi Vatan” drill showed that all the negative expectations waited for or even hoped for by the political opponents of Alexis Tsipras’s government proved wrong. No major problem occurred, no incident, no accident. This also means that the recent visit of Tsipras to Turkey succeeded its mission: it managed to lower the bilateral tension, which was present throughout the previous year especially during the term of Panos Kammenos in the Greek Foreign Ministry. Under Akar and Apostolakis, the defense ministries in both countries kept things under control as proven during these last days. And we should be looking forward to the next step in this de-escalation process, the meeting of Tsipras and Erdogan in Thessaloniki later in spring or early summer where business people from both countries will take part and where official bilateral agreements will be signed.
Yet, before we can be sure that we are about to witness a re-start of a positive agenda in the Turkish-Greek relations, let us wait for the developments surrounding the upcoming local elections in both countries and the critical general elections in Greece due this year whose exact date has not been announced yet.
